Private Coaching

Why Private Coaching

How often do you take your car to the garage for maintenance?
When the check engine light goes on, we often don't hesitate to get our vehicle checked out.

Our body sends us warning lights too in the form of chronic pain, achy muscles, fatigue and feeling weak or stiff. These signals are often caused by the body being out of alignment or weak. Get a personalized program tailored to your needs and abilities, this is where private coaching becomes a great tool to get unstuck and help you move forward.  Depending on your current condition, start with posture alignment therapy or jump into fitness conditioning or perhaps a combination of both methods!  We use a holistic approach to mending our bodies and minds. How we think and feel impacts our bodies ability to Mend and be vibrant.

You may be surprised to learn that postural imbalances could be at the root of your chronic aches and pains. For example, if one shoulder sits higher than the other, you could experience discomfort, numbness or lack of free movement in your upper back, shoulder, neck, arms and even your hips. If you are a surfer or cyclist, your performance will be impaired. Or, a rotated pelvis can cause pain to show up in your lower back, hips and knees which will hinder your hiking, walking or running experience. By correcting our imbalances, we can progress more effortlessly into functional movement and strengthening programs to keep us finely tuned, performing at our best and enjoying  our life and favorite activities.

We offer initial postural assessments, posture alignment therapy, follow-ups and fitness conditioning all remotely from the comfort of your home.

Fit Life Package

Laura blends 30 years of coaching experience working as a movement specialist, yoga teacher and postural therapist to help you feel better in your body and return to doing the things you love. FitLife follows a simple 2 step process:

Program Approach

1. Initial Fitness Assessment: Initial visit is a 90-minute one-on-one session

  1. Benchmark your current strength and flexibility level to measure progression through functional movement testing.
  2. Identify challenges and set outcome goals.
  3. Guide the fitness program development process for optimal results, safety and enjoyment.
  4. Design a program of exercises to help you perform better and meet your personal fitness goals.

2. Follow-up and Maintenance, Private Fitness Coaching

Following the initial Fitness Assessment, each follow-up session includes a reassessment of posture, movement and progress. The strengthening, stretching and repositioning exercises you will be given, treat postural misalignments and will retrain the muscles and joints of your body to function optimally leading to a fitter, healthier body.

Laura will track the changes in your body from the home program or in-studio program you were given. Based on these findings, new exercise updates and progression will be given to keep you moving towards your objectives. The key to improvement is practicing the sequence of the exercises and being consistent. Our bodies are designed to move and are a miraculous system that works as a unit that strives for balance.

Feel better, move better, perform better and live better with your individually designed functional movement program.

Perfect Posture Package

The Perfect Posture Package is designed to provide personalized and coordinated guidance to improve your posture and reduce pain faster. Healthy longevity depends on our daily habits. How we move, stand and sit daily impacts our posture and overall well-being.

Posture Correction Therapy addresses the key imbalances in our body that lead to discomfort, pain, low energy, health issues or impaired performance. Following an initial assessment you will leave with a carefully selected set of exercises designed for your body, your needs, goals and abilities.

Start with an initial  90-minute postural assessment to have a point of reference to evaluate improvements. The assessment is followed by seven weekly 60-minute sessions to help you do your exercises correctly and  regularly fine tune your at-home program.

For faster results there is an option to book twice per week rather than the standard once per week approach. Perfect Posture also follows a simple 2 step process:

Program Approach

1. Initial Postural Assessment: Initial visit is a 90-minute one-on-one session

a. Review of your health history

To understand where we are and where we are going, it is often useful to look at what has happened in the past. It helps isolate potential movement patterns, and also avoid potentially harmful movements.

b. Detailed postural and functional assessment

This assessment is designed to isolate your postural and functional strengths and weaknesses to help us define the “definition of postural balance” at this particular point in time.

c. Imagery to reveal the skeletal position and muscular imbalances

The images (photos of your posture) show how your joint position aligns against a grid to understand how the joints are loading and functioning. This analysis can reveal for example if an elevated shoulder and hip are leading to the back pain or if a forward head position or rounded upper back is causing the shoulder pain.

d. Functional Movement Testing & Evaluation

Various functional movements are performed to evaluate your specific limitations and to determine what muscles are active or inactive that are resulting in muscular compensation and pain. With the information gathered, Laura will design an individualized program including pictures and descriptions of the exercises for you to practice at home every day to get your body back in balance. Your program of exercises will help to improve your postural alignment leading to pain relief and better day-to-day performance in life, leisure and sport.

2. Follow-up and Perfect Posture Maintenance

Continued follow-up sessions are one hour in length and  include a reassessment of posture, gait and movement. The corrective exercises you will be given, treat postural misalignments and will retrain the muscles and joints of your body to function optimally.

Laura will track the changes in your body from the home program you were given. Based on these findings, new exercise updates and progression will be given to keep you progressing towards your objectives. The key to improvement is doing the sequence of the exercises and being consistent. Our bodies are designed to move and are a miraculous system that works as a unit that strives for balance.

Feel better, move better, perform better and live better with your individually designed posture improvement program.
